“We will see a future where health is a right and not a privilege.”
— Ellen Allen, healthcare advocate
WHAT WE LOST is a live theatrical performance built from the real stories of people who have faced challenges, frustrations, and hardships while seeking healthcare.
For many of us, struggles with healthcare can feel deeply personal—and sometimes isolating. Whether you have faced overwhelming costs, difficulty accessing the care you need, or barriers to receiving high-quality care, your experience matters. By sharing our stories, we can help one another feel less alone, deepen understanding, and create space for meaningful conversation.
Following each live performance, audience members will be invited to take part in a moderated discussion—a chance to listen, reflect, and engage with one another across different experiences and communities.
If you have a story to tell, we invite you to participate.
If you choose to take part, you will be interviewed one-on-one in a respectful and supportive setting. With your permission, your words and experiences may become part of the live performance. Your story will be handled with care throughout the process.
Through this project, we hope to:
- Help reduce isolation by reminding people that they are not alone in their struggles.
- Raise awareness about the real and lasting impact of healthcare challenges.
- Connect people with helpful resources and sources of support.
- Encourage thoughtful, constructive conversation across communities and different perspectives.
The interview and creative process will be documented. Each story will be thoughtfully edited, and participants will have the opportunity to review the final script and provide approval and feedback before their story is included in the performance.
Your story is your own. Your voice matters.
And your experience may help someone else feel seen, understood, and less alone.
